Q.
Why did you decide to study in Japan?
A.
I was chosen by the school to go to Chuo University to study language, Japanese society, etc. During this exchange, I realize I wanted to stay longer because I made so many friends at the same time Japanese people and Swedish people are similar. I also love Japanese food, Japanese fashion, and music.
Q.
What was the biggest challenge you experienced while studying abroad in Japan?
A.
In the first few months, I felt there were some barriers between international students and Japanese students, so it was hard to interact with the locals. But I think just initiate first the talk and don’t be afraid to talk to others because they are also shy.
Q.
What can international students enjoy in Japan other than studying?
A.
I am working part-time jobs this makes it easier to make accustom to life here. Also, exploring the city and travel around Japan would be great. You could also join clubs and circles. It is so heartwarming to see how international students and Japanese students can have fun together despite the language barrier.
Q.
What advice can you give to those who are thinking of studying in Japan?
A.
Being a foreigner in Japan, you will be treated differently. However, this is not always a bad thing and you can always use the “Gaijin card”. Another thing is that transportation in Japan is quite expensive. Make friends both Japanese students and international students!
Q.
From 1 to 10 what is your satisfaction rate so far in Japan as an international student?
A.
10/10 satisfaction rate!
I did not expect to be able to meet people from so many different countries and my experience here has been so great. I was lucky enough to come a few months earlier before COVID-19.
